HCFF’s mission seeks to ensure the legacy of the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, featured in the Oscar winning documentary Summer of Soul, creates social, cultural and economic impact in the Harlem community for generations to come.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
BUILD-A-BEAR WORKSHOP COMES TO HARLEM!
September, 2024
Hosted HCFF Family Day for 150+ children from the NYCHA community with Pop Up Build-A-Bear Workshop, Reading Corner & MetroPlus Health Back to School station.

COMPUTER & DIGITAL LITERACY PROGRAM

Partnered with DoubleVerify and Everyone On to provide free laptops and digital training lab for high school students from the Harlem NYCHA community.

Hosted a 50th Anniversary screening and moderated discussion for the highly acclaimed film Claudine in partnership with the Apollo Theater. Event featured a discussion with Actors Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs and Yvette Curtis.

MAY, 2025
Hosted a 50th Anniversary screening of the iconic film Cooley High with featured guest host Actress, Comedian and Talk Show Host Sherri Shepherd at AMC Magic Johnson Theatres. Sponsored by AMC Theatres, Southwest Airlines and Renaissance NY Harlem Hotel, the event featured a moderated discussion with Actor Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs.
ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
SMALL BUSINESS EXHIBIT
October 2024
Hosted Civic & Community Engagement reception on at the Renaissance New York Harlem Hotel featuring an exhibit of (3) Harlem based businesses:
Uncle Waithley’s Beverage Company, Mama’s One Sauce and Charles Pan Fried Chicken. The event provided valuable brand exposure and sampling opportunities for the businesses to reach an audience that included 75+ NYC/NYS & Harlem legislators, as well as civic leaders & corporate executives.

NUTRITION CLINIC
September 2024
Dr. Yolanda Cares Foundation provided a nutrition demo at the HCFF Family Day & Back to School event. Samples of organic smoothies with ingredients donated by Lincoln Market were provided along with a gift bag from Trader Joe’s Harlem donated for a raffle giveaway.
